To claim ownership of one of the sites that are already listed in the OIDD there is a simple and fully automated procedure. You just have to follow the instructions here.

First login with your OpenID. If this is the first time that you use your OpenID with “The OpenID Directory” we will automatically generate a new account which also stores your full name, nickname and emailaddress. It´s necessary to allow your IdP to send us your email, because we have no other means to contact you if something with your submissions goes wrong. Anyway we need your email address to generate a unique identifier (called MicroID) for your webpage.

Second: Lookup your websites LinkID on its detail page (e.g. http://blog.openiddirectory.com can be found here and has the LinkID 203), go to “Promote your Votes” and put your LinkID in the form. After pushing the botton the html-codes are generated for you.

Third: Choose one of the buttons or simply use a META-Tag from the codeboxes on the bottom of the site, put it in your HTML and push the button “Verify my Ownership”. Our server will check your site and will return a link to your personal member area if it can find your MicroID. In your member area you can edit your site, submit new sites, delete old ones etc.

BTW: The best way to set a backlink is using one of our buttons. Especially the voting button can bring you benefits from sending your readers to your voting page on the OIDD. The Top-Votes are one of the most clicked categories!
